Where does the Festival take place?

The Pyrenees Unearthed Festival is held along the banks of the Avoca River at the Southern end of Dundas Street in Avoca – see a link to Google Maps.

What time does the festival start and finish?

The Pyrenees Unearthed Festival gates open at 11am on Saturday 13th of April 2024. Wine tastings conclude at 4pm, while wine purchases are available until 5pm. The event finishes at 5pm and all patrons are required to vacate the festival site by 5.15pm.

What is included in my ticket?

Tickets include entry to the event site, a Pyrenees Unearthed Festival re-usable tasting glass, event bag, live music, children's activities and tasting at over 20 wineries & drinks producers. Wine, beer, gin & cider will also be available to purchase by the glass and to take away.

What should I bring?

While some seating will be provided, we strongly recommend bringing a folding chair or picnic rug to the event. Bottled water will be available at the event however we do recommend that you also bring your own. April in the Pyrenees is usually warm and sunny, so don't forget a hat and sunscreen as well as something warm for the late afternoon and in case of cooler weather.

Do I have to pay for wine tasting?

No – wine tasting is included in the event ticket. Free tastings end at 4pm and wine is available for purchase by the glass after this time. Wine is also available for sale by the glass and bottle throughout the day.

Will tickets be available to purchase on the day?

In the event that the 2024 Pyrenees Unearthed Festival doesn't sell out tickets will be available on the gate. We do however recommend securing your ticket early to avoid disappointment.

I don't drink, do I still need to purchase a ticket?

Yes – a pre-purchased ticket is compulsory for entry to the event. There is plenty to do other than taste wine, with live music, food and local produce available throughout the day.

Are children welcome?

Yes – the Pyrenees Unearthed Festival is family-friendly event and free children's activities will be available. Parents are required to register for a free Under 16 ticket for all children and a gold coin donation will be collected at the gate on the day.

Is there disabled access available at the Festival?

Yes. The festival site is accessible for people with disabilities and disabled toilets are available at the Lions Park adjacent to the festival site. Please note that the site has some small slopes and uneven surfaces.

Can I bring my dog?

No – animals are not permitted at the Pyrenees Unearthed Festival. Guide, hearing and assistance animals are exempted from this rule.

What happens if it rains?

The Pyrenees Unearthed Festival is an outdoor event, so please prepare for any weather. This means waterproof jackets, umbrellas and appropriate footwear if it's wet and sunscreen, hats and sunglasses if the weather is warm and sunny.

Can I catch a bus to the event? 

Yes, buses are available from St Arnaud (via Moonambel), Stawell (via Ararat), Ballarat and Maryborough. Visit Getting Here for more information.

Is there free parking available?

Yes – free parking is available at the Northern end of the festival site on Dundas Street. Please follow the direction of our parking marshal volunteers on the day.

Is the event BYO?

No. Patrons are not permitted to bring BYO food, drinks or alcohol with the exception of bottled water.

Can I bring my own picnic?

No. There will be a great selection of food available for purchase at the event which will cater for a broad range of dietary requirements.

Can I camp at the festival?

No. The festival is open from 11am to 5pm on Saturday 13th of April 2024 and patrons are not permitted to camp at the site. There are however a range of camping options available within a short stroll of the festival – see more information at the Camping page.

Will there be food available to cater for dietary requirements?

The Pyrenees Unearthed food vendors provide a wide range of delicious food styles, catering for vegan, vegetarian and gluten free requirements.

Is this event COVID-safe?

Yes, we have a complete COVID-safe plan in place to ensure the safety of our guests. All patrons are urged to observe social distancing requirements and obey the instructions of event officials.

I can't come to the festival anymore, what should I do with my ticket?

Unfortunately ticket refunds are not available for change of mind purchases – we recommend gifting them to a friend that may like to attend the event in your place. Due to a proliferation of ticket scammers on social media, we ask that patrons do not on sell their tickets via Facebook – Tixel is our recommended ticket reselling platform.
